Leave us your number and a quick note about your emergency. We call you back as soon as possible (usually within 15 minutes during clinic hours).
What counts as a real dental emergency
Not every mild discomfort is an emergency, but some situations do need fast attention in Torrevieja to avoid complications. The most common ones we treat:
- Severe toothache not relieved by standard painkillers that stops you sleeping or eating.
- Dental abscess with significant swelling, throbbing pain, fever or difficulty swallowing.
- Broken, fractured or knocked-out tooth after a fall, blow or biting on something hard.
- Lost crown, filling or bridge leaving a vulnerable tooth.
- Persistent bleeding that does not stop with 15-20 minutes of pressure.
- Dental trauma from sports or accidents.
What to do while you wait
Severe toothache
- Take your usual painkiller, respecting the indicated dose.
- Apply cold to your cheek from outside, in 10-15 minute intervals. Avoid heat.
- Rinse gently with warm salt water (a teaspoon in a glass).
- Do not self-prescribe antibiotics: if you need them, we will prescribe them after the assessment.
Broken or knocked-out tooth
- Pick up the tooth holding it by the crown, never by the root.
- Keep it in cold milk or saline. If neither is available, in saliva. Never tap water.
- Come as soon as possible: the first 1-2 hours are critical for re-implanting a fully knocked-out tooth.
Abscess or major swelling
- Cold to the cheek, never heat (heat makes infection worse).
- Your usual painkiller and a semi-upright sleeping position.
- If fever, difficulty swallowing or breathing appears, go to hospital A&E and let us know in parallel.
Emergency dentist in Torrevieja, your questions
Can you see me today as an emergency?
Yes, whenever possible. Leave your number in the form and we call you back in 15 minutes within clinic hours to assess and book you in the same day if we can.
Do you speak English?
Yes. We have a fully bilingual team (Spanish and English) and we look after many international patients on the Costa Blanca.
What should I do if I have severe toothache?
While you wait, you can take your usual painkiller (paracetamol or ibuprofen if you have no contraindication), apply cold to the cheek from outside, and avoid heat on the area. Do not self-prescribe antibiotics — let us assess first.
What if I have lost or broken a tooth?
Keep the fragment in milk or saline (never tap water) and come as soon as possible. For a fully knocked-out tooth, the first 1-2 hours are critical to re-implant it.
What about an abscess or significant swelling?
Major swelling, fever or difficulty swallowing is a real emergency. Call us straight away. While you wait, cold on the cheek, your usual painkiller, never heat. If breathing is affected, go to the hospital emergency department and let us know.
How much does an emergency consultation cost?
We assess you first, then explain what you need and give you a clear quote before any non-strictly-urgent treatment.
